Our Love Story

The year of 2011 is definitely a year of miracles and breakthrough. Despite the hardships that I had gone through and difficult times that I wrestled intensively, God’s faithfulness prevailed. Faith in God that He would provide every need that we ask and pray for. With abundant blessings that He surprised me, I never thought of God would direct me to a person who is wonderfully entered into my life. He is such a super-amazing God.

On 13th April 2011, I received a phone call from the office.

‘’Cik Chan Chiew Eim, kamu telah dipanggil untuk menghadiri khusus Induksi mulai hari Jumaat ini selama dua minggu.  Boleh hadirkah cik? Kalau boleh, sila datang office ambil surat sekarang?’’

Crap. With just only 3 days’ short notice, there were tons of works required to be completed in a short period of time. Worst still, one day before the course, I was told that a reckless motorcyclist on the road hit my newly-purchased car.  Woeful sigh.

With fuss and frustration, I went and attended the course with a mind full of dissatisfaction and disappointment.   *Facepalm*

‘’Hahaha, James Bong? Your name is so special. Do you purposely give yourself such a name? 007? ’’.

I laughed.

James and I first got to know and meet each other during the 2-week Induction Training at Rajah Court Hotel. We began the conversation with the joke that I made. We attended classes, joined dance practices and had meals together with a bunch of friends but the strange thing was, we never had the opportunity to talk as much as we could. Little did I know about him, we returned back to our own lives after completed the course and we never saw each other again.

Four months went by and on 7th August 2011, the day when I recommitted myself to church life after a year of spiritual dryness and miserable days, to my surprise, I saw and met him back at Hope Church Kuching. Sitting at the front row, he was looking around and I spotted him. He turned his gaze towards me and we looked at each other. We were smiling. He came to approach me for a chat, and finally, we exchanged phone numbers. We made a promise to have lunch together in one of those days.

On 22nd August 2011, he posted a comment on my Facebook wall:

Miss Chan, I know you receive bonus liaw. Come come, go Hung Hung lunch.

I responded.

‘’ HAHA. Wai don’t call me miss chan la!!haha! ok sure. Tml go grab lunch can? Wat time u ready for lunch?’’

He replied.

‘’If not miss chan what le? Mrs. ‘Somebody else surname’ hia? Haha. Sure. Go earlier la sui? 11 am? So that 12 pm, we wont get caught in jam. Hahahaha’’

I smiled.

We had our first lunch meet and our friendship started to grow.

Sparks of feeling began when I was shaken by his warm and beautiful heart. In October 2011, I was sent to A&E in the hospital due to the injury on my back bone. I suffered great pain while waiting for the doctor. Suddenly, I thought of him. After sending a few messages to him, to my surprise, he arrived in just within few minutes! He waited me patiently for x-ray and wheeled me to the bed. He accompanied me and took good care of me.

I was moved.

Another time on a hot raining afternoon, after having lunch, we walked together to the carpark. Although the rain was very small, I never expected that he did a very cute and thoughtful thing for me. He found something out of nowhere and he used it to protect me from the raindrops. It was a small, flat chopping board. Yes, a chopping board. It made me laugh immediately!  I was stirred by his funny sense of humour.

We had our first movie together on 11.11.11 and eventually, we began to go out more frequently for meals, movies, and drinks. We joined many church activities together and once I got to know him more, I knew that we could instantly connect. We loved sharing life experiences and values. I enjoyed his great company and he always made me laugh all the way through the conversation that we always had (and he still does until today). We texted through Whatsapp very frequently and we told things about all sorts – ‘Good morning’, ‘Have your lunch?’, ‘Finish work soon’, ‘Safe drive’; and he made me smile unceasingly.

On the night of 21st December 2011 was a mega blast with lots of sweet moments. Despite the heavy downpour and cold weather, we had a great movie with church friends. After the movie, both of us went for the scrumptious ikan bakar for supper - one of our favourite local foods. We had a good time clicked together and enjoyed each other’s presence. That wonderful night our love started to emerge when we were getting nearer to each other through our physical closeness.  For the first time being so close together, he hugged me tightly into his arms to keep me warm. With his hot and sexy body, I was excited but somehow, I was panicked and gasped at the same time! The next thing that I knew, I was soaked immediately into his intimate embrace. Undoubtedly, I had fallen in love with this guy.  We took the plunge and started dating.

Our relationship blooms continuously ever since we got along together. The trip to Kota Kinabalu on valentine week was pretty awesome. Aside from being able to spend quality time together, we were able to enjoy the natural beauty of the city. From the clear blue sea of South China Sea to the spectacular mountains of Kundasang, we were truly stunned by the indescribable creation of God.

One thing that never fails to amaze me is how caring James can be. He is always doing unexpectedly sweet and thoughtful things. One night I was tired and I slept in his bed. When I woke up, I smelled the enticing aroma of Maggie goreng wafted through the air. I ran downstairs with curiosity. To my amaze, he was at the kitchen doing the washing up and I noticed a plate of freshly fried Maggie on the dining table. Without knowing that I peeped behind him, he got shocked when he saw me. *Giggled*

He fried Maggie mee in order to fill my stomach for supper. I felt touched. His cooking was delicious. Every bite in my mouth I tasted not only the nicely dry and spicy noodles, but also the sweetness of his heart.

A few sips of Irish cream always bring excitement on my taste buds and I absolutely cannot resist the sweetness of this super-delicious creamy liquor.  Knowing that I love to drink Irish cream, he secretly brought back a bottle of Baileys for me. Words cannot express how nice, kind and caring he is!!

Another thing that he would do is making a mug of hot coffee or tea to keep me alert before driving back to home at night. There is no other better than this.

Occasionally I would find cute love–shaped sticky notes written by him and pasted on my stuffs. Things like ‘Merry Christmas!’ on my present, a ‘Thanks for everything’ on my book. Those things are little but they are meant a lot to me. He is completely amazing and spoils me to death, I love him!

James is unique, for God created him to be. I thank God for He brings James into my life as we learn to respect and honor each other. God created romance. He always provides the opportunity for us to get to know that person in His own perfect time and way.  Here is my simple little faith of prayer:

Dear Loving God, thank you for the gift of meeting James in my life. Please continue to bless and guide us as we truly want to honor You in our relationship. Lord, help us to rely on Your strength in dealing with our struggles and weaknesses; and to discern what is good and bad. We thank You for Your wonderful and sacrificial love on the cross. Help us to grow in Your Holy Spirit on each day as we live. Heavenly Father, we love You. Bless our time together and may Your name be glorified. In Jesus’s most precious name I pray, Amen.

Dear James Bong! I thank God for you… *Hugs*
